Text Box: AINA Photo Agency Afghanistan is the one and only independent photo Agency in Afghanistan In 2001 French photojournalists Manoocher and Reza Deghati founded Aina Media and Center, with the aim to provide media training to the devastated society of Afghanistan. The first department born from the NGO was Aina Photo Department and Photojournalism Institute. The department focused on building the capacity of the Photojournalism in Afghanistan. Since 2002 Aina Photo Department has trained about 50 male and female students in all facets of photojournalism, from camera operation and image correction on computers through to story construction and ethics into today’s global media industry, in several different courses, Our international tutors have been, mostly volunteers, strive to bring Afghanistan back into the 21st century’s global media circle, Moreover, Aina photo department had an image bank storing the thousands of photographers taken by the photographers. AINA Photo Department became and independent photo Agency as on August 23, 2008 with its legal name IANA Photo Agency Afghanistan registered with Ministry of Information and Culture. Currently the agency is managed by its 10 photojournalists who are the shareholders of the agency. Meantime we have 6 other photographers who are working with agency as constrictors. With transformation of the AINA Photo Dept. into an independent Photo Agency, the country has recorded the first photo agency in its 130 years journalism history.
